We
are a specialised company based in Watton, Norfolk (close
to Snetterton circuit and Lotus HQ in Hethel). We design,
develop and manufacture the M3DK engine management system.
The
M3DK handles full 3D mapping of both ignition and injection
on most normally aspirated and turbo engines. Our in-house
R&D facility includes a Supaflow air flow bench for
cylinder head testing. We also operate our own 4WD rolling
road with the latest dyno software and logging for wide-band
Lambda sensors. We have a five-gas analyser and four-wheel
geometry alignment kit and corner-weight set.
This
equipment has been used over the years to generate editorial
features in magazines like Car & Car Conversions magazine
and more recently Circuit Driver Magazine.
Emerald
produced the first M3D management system in 1994 as ignition
only and soon after fuel injection was added. We now have
a 32-bit system using Windows control software which was
developed from the initial DOS based system. As engine
set-up and calibration specialists we appreciate how complicated
some engine management software can be. We believe our
system is both straight-forward and logical to use. Many
of the "big" features of other systems we take
for granted in ours. Any constructive comments on the
software that you care to make are most welcome.
We
have used the M3DK to good effect on a variety of different
engines and have a comprehensive library of maps for these
engines in various states of tune, particularly the Rover
'K' series as used in the Caterham Seven, Lotus Elise
and MGF.
Our
development programme for 2004 will include adding new
features to the 32-bit M3DK during the year. Full eight-channel
data logging software is already available free of charge
to existing users of the 32-bit system. (see "software"
section)
